Nycticorax is a genus of night herons. The genus name translates from ancient Greek to Night Raven. It is a group of birds with crow-like calls and nocturnal feeding habits.

Their diet consists of what is available along the water’s edge. Small fish, crustaceans, frogs, aquatic insects, small reptiles and even small mammals.

This artwork is inspired by their behaviours and their connection to water. Mirrored Perspex has been inlaid into the artwork.
